QBUS - MQTT Quick Tutorial
I recently renovated my house and we chose a domotic installation. For that we chose QBUS, a belgian company that created all the necessary components.
They're apparently know to be more "open" that other companies, and allow you more freedom when interracting with the installation.
In my case, all the lights of the house are controlled by QBUS. My goal is to be able to interract with the QBUS Controller from other devices.
It's possible by using MQTT, a communication protocol that QBUS officially supports through their official gateway
It's quite easy to setup, but once you have your MQTT server running, you're probably like... ok what now ? How do I actually turn a light on ?
You can dive deep into testing the command and reverse engineer it all, but fortunately some experienced developers already did it. After browsing the QBUS forum (all in Dutch, would be easier if it was in EN), I found someone who pre-configured it all alongside a HomeAssistant instance, all in docker. Thanks to this, you can have the whole system running in just one `docker compose up``
Thanks to the incredible work of wk275, it's all too easy.
When I started last year I used his first version : https://github.com/wk275/qbTools-v2
But now he has a v3 available. I'll let you discover it, you simply have to follow the instructions https://github.com/wk275/qbtools-V3
